Wayne Howard Whitener 74, of Forest City passed away at his home on January 24, 2018. Wayne worked in the used cars business and was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Samuel Leroy Whitener and Vernie Sue Pritchard Whitener a sister Martha Ann Flores, a brother Ronnie Whitener and a grandson Mason Whitener. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 52 years, Sylvia; sons, Brian Whitener (Sherry) of Rutherfordton, Brad Whitener (Melony) of Forest City, Grandsons Michael Whitener, Matthew Whitener, Chris Whitener, Kiefer Whitener, Stuart Whitener, Cameron Whitener, Luke Ross and Granddaughter, Laura Jackson and Harley Russell of Florida. Wayne was a loving husband, father and grandfather always putting his family first. Wayne was a hero to his family. Services will be private and held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Building Fund, 2674 Hudlow Road, Forest City, NC 28043 or Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 374 Hudlow Road, Forest City, NC 28043.
