Kay  Deviney (Frady)
Mrs. Helen Kay Frady Deviney passed away on Tuesday August 15th, 2017, after a short stay at the Hospice House of Rutherford County. Born on May 11th ,1942, she was the daughter of the late James Dewitt Frady, and Helen Williams Frady. She was also preceded in death by a brother, James Dewitt Frady Jr.
Kay is survived by her loving husband, Larry Deviney, of 55 years, and one son, Grant, his wife Rebecca, and 2 grandchildren, Emma Grace and Aaron Grant, of Spindale. She is survived by one sister, Kieta Jane Lanford (Tom Lanford) of Spartanburg, SC. Kay is also survived by her niece, Leslie Hodge Stewart (Tim Stewart) and their daughter Ava of Roebuck, SC, and nephew Sean Lanford of Spartanburg, SC.
After receiving her undergraduate degree, in education, Kay returned to Appalachian State and earned her Masters in Library Science at the age of 44. She worked in the educational system for 30 years.
Kay will be laid to rest in a private family service on Friday. A Memorial Services will be held Saturday August 19th at 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church 224 Chimney Rock Road, Rutherfordton, NC 28139 with visitation immediately following. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to, Trinity Christian School in Rutherfordton, or Hospice of Rutherford County in Forest City.
Kay was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who loved God, her church family and friends and will be truly missed. Online condolences may be made at www.crowemortuary.com. Crowe’s Mortuary is assisting the family.
