Obituary for Harry Allen Sorenson

Harry Allen  Sorenson
Dr. Harry A. Sorenson, 94, passed away quietly in his sleep on Sunday, February 26, 2017 in his home in Lake Lure, NC. Harry was born on March 10th, 1922 in Racine, WI to Milo and Violet Sorenson. He served his country in the US Air Corp piloting B-24 bombers in the South Pacific during WWII and later earned the rank of Major in the US Air Force Reserves. He returned from the war and attended the University of Wisconsin and Marquette University, graduating with a degree in dentistry. Dr. Sorenson, or “Doc” as he was fondly known, practiced dentistry in Ft. Lauderdale and Boca Raton, FL where he raised his family, golfed, and was a community leader for over 3 decades. He retired in 1992 to Rumbling Bald, Lake Lure, NC with his wife, Irene “Joy”, where he continued to enjoy his lifelong passion of golf, well into his 80’s.
Harry is preceded in death by his parents, Milo and Violet Sorenson, his brothers John and Richard Sorenson and his grandson Ben Buchanan.

Survivors include his wife Irene “Joy” Sorenson; daughters Sandy Buchanan, Deana Sorenson and Linda Kleppe; son John Sorenson; grandchildren, Soren (Buchanan) Chapman, Sarah Buchanan, Kari Ann (Kayworth) Tilson, Kendall Kayworth, Kolby Kayworth, Sid Sorenson, Thomas Kleppe, Eric Kleppe, Zac Suber, Niki Suber and great granddaughter Alexandra Ross Tilson.

A Memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the Fairfield Mountains Chapel, 1384 Buffalo Creek Road, Lake Lure, NC at 2pm.
