Mr. Jerry Gordon Jaynes, Sr. age 85 of Nanneytown Road went home to be with The Lord on October 08, 2016 while being cared for at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC.
A native of Rutherford County, NC he is the son of the late James Wright Jaynes and Meldonia Guffey Jaynes, a housing maintenance mechanic and was a member of Round Hill Baptist Church. Jerry was also a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War.
He leaves behind his children Jerry Gordon Jaynes, Jr. and wife Martha of Warrior, AL and Melanie Elizabeth Hawkins and husband Steve of Forest Dale, AL.; siblings William “Bill” Jaynes and wife Betty, Roy Jaynes, Ruby Winstead, Beverly Walker, Vickie Cox and Hazel Dodd; granddaughters Stephanie Herring and Lori Jackson both of Birmingham, AL. One sister in law Teresa Jaynes
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by siblings Kenneth Jaynes, Virginia Metcalf, Larry Jaynes, David Jaynes, Howard Jaynes, Charles Jaynes and Bobby Jaynes as well as one grandson Jeremy Hawkins.
A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held 2 P.M. Wednesday October 12, 2016 at Crowe’s Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jonathan Lankford officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Concluding services will be held at Round Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors provided by The Rutherford County Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The R.S. Central JROTC.
