Louise VanDyke Smith, 95, of Bostic, died Thursday, November 13, 2014 at the home of her daughter.

Born August 2, 1919 in Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Rastus and Ida VanDyke. Louise joined Southern Baptist Church in Ruth, NC on October 5, 1952 and she kept the nursery there for over 40 years. She worked at Stonecutter Mill for 37 years. Louise loved being around her family and her friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon Coy Smith; grandson Scotty Clayton Self, brother Daley VanDyke and sister Ima Savino.

Survivors include one daughter Pansy Smith Self and husband Clayton of Bostic; grandson Terry Eldon Self and wife Tracy of Bostic; two great grandchildren Taylor Nicole Self and Trenton Clay Self.

Funeral services will be conducted 2PM Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Fairview Baptist Church in Golden Valley with Rev. David Ledford, Rev. John Perry, and Rev. Gary Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5PM until 7PM Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Crowe’s Mortuary.
