Katie C. Queen - "Nana", age 91, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Rutherford Hospital. A native of Rutherford County, Katie was born March 10, 1920, to the late Cyrus Grady Crow and Mamie Simpson Crow of Golden Valley, NC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edison Queen, and her brother, Marion Monroe Crow. Katie was a Christian lady, devoted to her family and loved gardening, especially flowers. Katie is survived by four children, Sharon Queen Clark of the home, Koehler Queen of Greenville, NC, Jerry Queen and wife Marilyn of Golden Valley, NC, and Phillis Queen Newman of Tampa, FL; four grandchildren, Christoper Queen and wife Tracy, Gregory Brenton Queen and wife Nathalia, Katherine Clark Rejowski and husband Christopher Rejowski, and Whitney Jane Clark; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Crowe’s Mortuary on Sunday, May 22, 2011, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 23, 2011, at the First Broad Baptist Church Cemetery, Golden Valley, NC.
