Clifford Billy Murphy, born to Ernest and Edna Searcy Murphy on November 19, 1927 was called home to be with the Lord on April 15, 2019 at Trinity Elms Nursing Home, Clemmons, NC. Survived by his wife of 67 years, Juanita Flynn Murphy, daughters Rebecca Murphy Robbins, husband Freddie, Myra Murphy Mize husband Stanley Mize (deceased), Denise Murphy Taylor, husband Timothy and two grandchildren Travis Scott Taylor and Ashley Nicole Taylor, two brothers Reed Murphy, wife Lois and Berlon Murphy, wife Wanda, sister-in-law’s, Betty Rogers, Shirley Parrish and husband Wayne, Betty Flynn, and numerous nephews, nieces, dear friends and neighbors.
Clifford served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Duke Power Company as Maintenance Manager retiring with 31 years’ service. He served as the Chairman of the Board for Bills Creeks Fire Dept. Clifford loved the Lord and served for many years as Deacon in the church and served on various committees when called upon. His favorite past times were hunting and farming both of which a story and laughter always followed. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help with whatever the need. Family always came first and was very important to him.
The funeral will be held Friday, April 19th at 12 noon, Bills Creek Baptist Church, Lake Lure, NC with Reverend Claude McIntosh and Reverend Eugene Sherrill officiating. The family will receive friends between 10am and noon. Burial will follow in the Bills Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Family will be available for visitation after the service. Flowers or donations can be made to the Bills Creek Baptist Church, 1475 Bills Creek Road Lake Lure, NC 28746 or Bills Creek Fire Dept. 336 Cedar Creek Road Lake Lure, NC 28746 in his memory.
