Robert Ernest Runnels, age 77 died peacefully while under the care of Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City, NC on Saturday, November 17, 2018.
A resident of Spindale, NC, Robert was a native of Tucson, AZ and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He served on the USS Los Angeles from 1959 – 1965 and was an avid fisherman, a fan of John Wayne films and loved watching the Forest City Owls play ball.
Robert is survived by his wife, Elvie of the home; one son Robert C. Runnels; one daughter Chandra R. Mueller; two stepsons James and Raymond Meadows; two grandchildren Robert and Tatianna Mueller; one brother Solis Runnels; one sister Jean Ritter; as well as a number of other friends and family members. He will be missed by all
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held 2 P.M. Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Sulphur Springs Holiness Church 2945 Hwy 221 South, Forest City, NC 28043 with Rev. David Cole officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
