Condolences

Condolence From: Jim Finch
Condolence: I just heard the news today and am still in shock; my condolences to Brenda and the entire family. I met Eric just 3 years ago when he started helping me with my cabin but soon came to know what an exceptional person he was. He not only checked on me & my construction progress but also took me out on the lake (my friends too) & even included me in trivia night in Rutherfordton. He was such a thoughtful person and he never met a stranger; he will be sorely missed at the cabin!

Condolence: Dear Gibson family. Just today I heard the sad news. I spoke with Eric the week before his NY weekend away. I was honored to be invited but sadly unable to attend. I expected a call this week to hear all about it. We met at a company conference in Quebec about 3 years ago and became and stayed friends despite the great distance between us. What a nice, funny and sincere guy he was. He was an excellent conversationalist with a great sense of humor. He will be missed. I can't even imagine the pain and sorry you are feeling. Please know that you will be in our thoughts and prayers over the next while. Your Canadian friend forever.

We always enjoyed hearing his fabulous Boy Scout adventure stories. There will definitely be a hole in each of our hearts here at The Coves. He was genuinely appreciated and will be deeply missed. Condolence From: Dave & Sunni Allen
Condolence: We were very saddened to hear the news of Rick's passing. He was a great friend. I have many fond memories of the hilarious times we had in our high school years in Cherry Hill, N.J. He attended Sunni's and my wedding in Miami, FL in 1974. During a sailboat trip out on Key Biscayne for my bachelor party, Rick slid off the deck into the drink while we were battling stormy seas. As we tried to get back to him, he found he could stand up in the 5 ft. deep water and just stood waiting there while we tacked around to pick him up. Later he came to visit Sunni and me in Stafford, Texas while our sons were very young. We will miss his easy smile and great humor. Our deepest condolences and prayers go out to his family.

Condolence From: Bradford G. Ritchie
Condolence: I'm not sure where to begin. I've know Rick since 9th grade where he quickly became one of my best friends. We were teammates on our football team. He was a brother I never had. After high school and college, we remained close even though we now lived many miles apart. I was with Rick in upstate New York when he left us. We spent most of Saturday together visiting a historic site he wanted to see where we talked and had an ice cream cone. I left early the next morning and didn't find out about his passing until Monday morning. I am devastated and heartbroken but so very happy I decided to make the trip for the annual get together with high school friends. I had not gone to any of the past get togethers but when Rick asked if I wanted to go this year, something told me "it was time". I lost one of my best friends up there. Brenda, please accept Roberta's and my deepest condolences and know that Rick loved you, Halley and Michael very much. We are unable to get down but you and Rick will be in our hearts and prayers. I'm sure I'm rambling on but this hasn't quite sunk in yet.

Condolence: Brenda, my heart hurts. I am so sorry to learn of Eric's death and your loss. In my many years of working with him at AFA he was always kind and courteous to me. He was so supportive when my Russell died. I pray for God to give you, Halley and Michael the strength, comfort and peace that you need to carry you through this difficult time. Let me know what I can do to help. I'm so sorry I will not be able to attend the service on Saturday. Will be with family in VA for an annual get together. Love you Brenda.

Condolence From: Jeff Winter
Condolence: I am so very sorry and sad to hear about Rick. His boyhood friends knew him as "Hoot." We were in together in the Boy Scouts and the Presbyterian Church youth group. After high school, I worked for a time at his Father's Texaco station in Cherry Hill, NJ. Rick taught me how to fix a flat tire, change the oil, and do basic repairs on an automobile. I will always remember his infectious laugh and zeal for life. I believe he had a sincere faith in Jesus Christ and I look forward to seeing him in heaven.
