Obituary for Doris Ann Atchley (Stafford)

Doris Stafford Atchley, 80, of Rutherfordton, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. A native of Stovall, NC, she was the daughter of the late Vance Franklin and Tennie Jane Duncan Stafford. She was a retired textile employee and a loving wife, mother, Mawmaw, sister and friend. She was a member of Piney Knob Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Robert Atchley of the home; sons, Tony Atchley and wife Cathy of Gaffney, SC, Rocky Atchley and wife Debbie of Rutherfordton; daughters, Sheila Henson and husband Kenny of Spartanburg, SC and Christine McDaniel and husband Harvey of Forest City; daughter in law, Allison Atchley Henson of Chesnee, SC; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; sisters, Faye Smith of Forest City, Kaye Linder of Forest City, and Susan Ford of Rutherfordton, and her Fur Baby, Precious. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Frankie Atchley.
Funeral services will be held 3PM Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Piney Knob Baptist Church, 1229 Piney Knob Road, Rutherfordton, with Rev. Wayne Stafford, Rev. Mike Brown and Rev. Shane Jackson officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Welcome Home Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 PM Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Crowe’s Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
