David Calton Richards (Posey), age 64, of Rutherfordton, died Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center after a long battle with cancer. Born March 24, 1953, he was the son of the late Helen Huntley Richards. David worked at Trutex and Ammons Jewelry until his retirement in 2015. David enjoyed life, music, fishing and camping with friends at South Toe.

David was preceded in death by a sister, Lorena Richards Fowler and a brother, Michael Richards. He is survived by a nephew, Jeff Fowler and wife Denise; niece Joy Fowler Smith and husband Derek; great nieces and nephews, Zack Fowler, Sierra Fowler, Savannah Smith and Noah Smith; and special friend Terry Ferguson.

David left behind countless numbers of friends that loved him and will miss him deeply. He lived his life his way and faced death the same. He was a simple man.
Family and friends will have a gathering at a later date and will take his ashes to be near his mother and at his favorite place, South Toe.
