Magali Comiot Gilbert of Lake Lure passed away Friday December 8, 2017 from complications of a stroke suffered on January 4, 2014. Magali was French by birth who came to the United States on a college scholarship in 1958. Magali had a very successful real estate career in Orlando, Florida where she met her husband Walter L. Gilbert, an aerospace engineer of Lockheed Martin in Orlando. They were married in June of 1986 and they spent the next twenty years traveling throughout the United States as Wally was plying his trade as a structural analyst on aircraft structures and jet engines.
Magali leaves two children, Mark Hamilton of Orlando, Florida and Michelle Fountaine of Montanita, Ecuador and was the step-mom of Jenna Joy of North Palm Beach, Florida and J.T. Gilbert of Mill Spring, North Carolina. She has three sisters; Lydie Comiot of Montpellier, France, Mireille Thomasseau of Bordeaux, France, Ealline Fraixe of Collonges, France and a brother. Magali is preceded in death by her mother and father Charles and Raymonde Comiot, a sister Evelyne Brun and a brother Pierre Comiot.
Magali was a wonderful wife, mother, aunt and grandmother who was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by all.
A funeral service will be held 1PM on Saturday December 16, 2017 at Crowe’s Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers please donate to Hospice of The Carolina Foothills, PO Box 336 Forest City, NC 28043.
