Bryan Lester  Basden
Bryan “B.L.” Basden, 94, of Rutherfordton, died Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills. A native of Wake County, he was the son of the late Paul and Mamie Jeanette Basden. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Rutherfordton, a US Army Veteran serving during World War Two, and was a retired NC Highway Patrol Officer. Mr. Basden also served as Chief of Police for The Town of Rutherfordton, NC; Rutherford County E.M.S. Director and was a member of the Rutherfordton Masonic Lodge.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Sharon Tomblin and husband Toby of Spindale, Lynne Vinson and husband Jim of Raleigh; grandchildren Allison Lyles, Faith Tomblin, Meredith Overcash, Hayley Vinson; greatgrandchildren, Jake Lyles, Ethan Lyles, Oliver Lyles, Charlotte Overcash and Clara Gray Overcash. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Wynn Basden.
Services will be held 1 PM Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Montlawn Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, 2911 S Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC with Rev. David Frazelle officiating.

The family will receive friends 6PM-7PM Friday, December 1, 2017 at First United Methodist Church, 264 North Main Street Rutherfordton.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 264 North Main Street, Rutherfordton, NC 28139.
