Obituary for Ed Metcalf

Ed Metcalf, 95, of Columbus, N.C. died September 8th, 2017 at Tryon Estates.
Born March 16th, 1922 in the Mount Vernon Community of Rutherford County, he was an identical twin of Fred Metcalf born to Jacob Luther Metcalf and Daisy Bridges Metcalf.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie Philbeck Metcalf, brother Carl Metcalf, and identical twin Fred Metcalf.
Ed is survived by his sister Gladys Henderson, brothers George Metcalf, John Samuel Metcalf, and nephew Steve Luther Metcalf.
Ed was a veteran of the United States Army Military Police during World War II in France, Rhineland and Berlin where he accompanied Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower to the Brandenburg Gate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be sent to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills P.O. Box 336 Forest City, NC 28043.
The funeral service will be conducted graveside at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery Friday September 22nd, 2017 at 11 A.M.
