Edith Hazel Sane, 95, of Mount Airy, MD., died from pneumonia on August 3, 2017 at Buckingham’s Choice in Adamstown, MD.
Hazel was born on February 28, 1922 in Rutherford County, N.C. to the late Albert Lloyd and Alice Houser Hensley. She was the widow of James Marion Sane, also of Rutherford County, NC. They were married for 62 years.
She was a graduate of Rutherfordton-Spindale Central High School in 1938. She lived in Munster, Indiana for many years and she worked in several offices in the area. She also lived in Baltimore County, Maryland; Greensboro, NC; and Mount Airy, Maryland.
She was an avid reader, and an excellent bridge player. She loved flowers, particularly hydrangeas and daffodils, and she grew beautiful flowers wherever she lived. She was a very loving, caring person, and she greatly valued and treasured her family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by five siblings: Robert L. Hensley, Katherine Hensley Lancaster, John Ray Hensley, Albert Lloyd (Bud) Hensley, Jr. and William (Bill) Hensley.
Survivors include her daughter, Marianne Sane Pfeiffer, and son-in-law, Warren Robert Pfeiffer of Gaithersburg, MD, and her sister, Mary Alice (Frank) Buchert of South Haven, MI.
The funeral service will be held at Crowe’s Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 11am. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00am. The Reverend Dr. Bobby Gantt will officiate. Interment will be at Eternal Hill Cemetery at 1565 Oakland Road in Forest City, NC. Following interment, all family and friends are invited for lunch at the Rutherfordton Clubhouse, 241 Clubhouse Drive, Rutherfordton, NC.

Crowe’s Mortuary Rutherfordton, NC and Stauffer’s Funeral Home of Frederick, MD are assisting the family of Edith Hazel Sane.
