The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Michael Gilbert can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolence: I played football with Mike Gilbert at Lenoir Rhyne College. There was no player on the Bear's teams in the 60's that was more loved by his teammates than Mike Gilbert. Mike was a quite but fierce competitor that always lived up to the goal that our coaches tried to teach us "Team Before Self". All former Lenoir Rhyne Bears will miss our friend and fellow legend, Mike Gilbert.

Such sad news about Mike. It is so sad to even think about loosing a sibling. Please accept my condolences. We will have grandchildren this weekend, so doubt we will be able to come, as much as I would like to. Know I will be thinking of you.
