Laban Rhyne  Kelly Jr.
Laban Rhyne Kelly Jr., 90, of Lake Lure, went home to be with his Savior on Monday, December 26, 2016. Laban was born June 23, 1926 in Charlotte to Laban R. Kelly Sr. and Celeste Hood Kelly. He was a WWII US Army veteran. He married Martha V. Eller on May 11, 1946, and they were married 54 years, until her death in 2000. Laban was a member of the NRA, a former volunteer firefighter for Chimney Rock Fire Department, and the youngest member of the Charlotte Sheet Metal Union.

Left to cherish Laban’s memories are his daughters, Martie Kelly Moore, Rhea Kelly and Bonnie Kelly Preslar; son Butch Kelly; fifteen grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; sister Joan Kelly Talbert; brother Dick Kelly. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by daughter Leah Kelly Hempfling and brother, Reid Kelly.

A service to honor Laban’s life will be held 1PM Friday, December 30, 2016 at Chimney Rock Baptist Church Cemetery, 270 Boys Camp Road, Lake Lure, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
