Curtis "Mary" Mae  Toms (Copeland)

Curtis Mae “Mary” Copeland Toms, 87, of Rutherfordton, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2016 at Oak Grove Health Care Center. A resident of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Curtis Copeland and Lula Copeland Toms and the widow of John Henry Toms.
She joined Gold Hill Baptist Church at an early age and attended faithfully until her declining health. She attended New Hope School and retired as a beautician. She was a member of the Western Beauty Chapter 295 and also a member of the Gold Hill Missionary Society.
Curtis Mae is survived by her stepdaughters, Lonnie Snyder, Connie Alexander, Ruth (Ellsworth) Simmons of New Haven, CT, and Crystal (Vince) Daniel of Forest City. She leaves to cherish fond memories her caregivers, niece Patricia Littlejohn and nephew Boyce Wilkerson; also her sisters-in-law Edna Washburn and Mamie (Charlie) Morris and aunt-in-law Ruth Blanton Toms.
Curtis Mae leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Thomas Copeland, Howard Copeland and Charles Copeland, and sisters, Georgia Wilkerson and Nora Camp.
Funeral services will be held 1PM Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Gold Hill Missionary Baptist Church with viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Eternal Hills Memorial Park.
