Sybil Harriett  James
Sybil was born on February 3, 1933, in Rutherfordton, NC to the late Robert and Hettie Hovis. She went to her eternal home on October 12, 2016. She grew up in Spindale, NC, and married Robert G. James in 1955. She spent many years in Daleville, AL, and Spindale, NC, before moving to Tallahassee, FL, in 2011 to be near her daughters and grandson. She was a proud member of Tallahassee Heights United Methodist Church and previously a member of Spindale United Methodist Church. Sybil is survived by her daughters, Janna James and Bobbie Rushing; a grandson, Zachary James Rushing; a sister, Dorothy Beatty; two nieces, Barbara Jo Warren (Dale) and Jane Johnson (Jimmie); and a nephew, Robert Philbeck (Sandra). Sybil was preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret Philbeck, Bobbie Cox and Sarah Hovis; and her nieces, Andrea Kay Cox and Ginny McCurry. Sybil loved playing the piano, working with flowers and volunteering in the church office. A memorial service will be held 11 A.M. Saturday November 12, 2016 at Spindale United Methodist Church with Rev. Ross Oneal and Rev. Gerald Davis. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be in The Rutherfordton City Cemetery.
