Obituary for Phyllis Maxine Black (Sluder)

Phyllis Maxine Sluder Black, 82, of Forest City, died Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Fair Haven of Forest City. A native of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Dennis and Macie Haney Sluder. She was a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Phyllis is survived by her husband Harry Franklin Black; son Kevin Black and wife Tami; daughter Beverly Black and husband Greg Mode; one grandchild, two great grandchildren; brother, James Sluder; sister, Betty Waters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, D.R. Sluder, Gay Sluder and Denver Sluder, and a sister, Marie Stanfield.

Funeral services will be held 11AM Friday, September 30, 2016 at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Wilkins, and Rev. Allan Hall officiating. Interment will be in Eternal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Crowe’s Mortuary.
