Mamie Viola  Dickerson (Whiteside)
Mamie Viola Dickerson of Charlotte, formerly of Rutherfordton, died Wednesday, April 27, 2016. A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Bynum and Hattie Wilkerson Whiteside. She was a faithful and longtime member of Gold Hill Baptist Church and was very active in Sunday school, Missionary Society, Senior Choir and was a Deaconess.

She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Marian Whiteside of Charlotte; granddaughter, Candace Whiteside of Charlotte; and three greatgrandchildren, Maiya, Robert and Lauren, all of Charlotte. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. She also served as a mother figure to Joe Moore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband George Dickerson, brothers, Willie, James, Lois and Grady Whiteside, and sisters, Alma Carpenter and Mae Bridges.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, May 9, 2016 at Crowe’s Mortuary. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the mortuary.
