Alexander McGuire  Kimbrough III
Alexander McGuire Kimbrough III, 77, of Lake Lure, died Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem. A native of Mocksville, NC, he was the son of the late Alexander McGuire Kimbrough Jr and Helen Campbell Kimbrough. He was retired from the US Air Force, having served in Vietnam, and attended First United Methodist Church of Rutherfordton.

Mac enjoyed retirement living in the Bill’s Creek area and doing community service with his wife of 44 years, VerAnn. He especially enjoyed volunteering at Bill’s Creek Hardware Store and seeing all the wonderful people who came in each day.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, VerAnn Jacobsma Kimbrough of the home; sisters, Betty Smith of Orlando, FL and Helen Kimbrough of Richardson, TX; nieces, Heather and Joey Andrade and their children, Allison and Tyler of West Palm Beach, FL and Robin and Keith Tenen of West Palm Beach, FL; mother-in-law Anna Mae Hargens of Sibley, IA; sisters-in-law LoRae and Rick Dressler of Lake Crystal, MN, Linda Jacobsma of Ham Lake, MN, Ruth and Jake Jurrens of Sibley, IA; and brother-in-law Bob and Bonnie Hargens of Lincoln, NE. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law Burdell Jacobsma.

Memorial services will be held 2PM Thursday, February 25, 2016 at First United Methodist Church in Rutherfordton with Dr. Jack Knoespel officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the sanctuary of the church.
