Obituary for Arthur Nelon

Arthur Nelon

Arthur Nelon, 87, of Forest City, died Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Hospice House. A Rutherford County native, he was the son of the late William Jasper and Dovie Ruff Nelon. He was a retired textile employee and a WWII US Navy veteran.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Ophelia “Phebe” Nelon of the home; daughters, Sherry Arms (Ron) of Travelers Rest, SC, Donna Oaks of Rutherfordton; son, Scott Nelon of Rutherfordton; sister, Betty Rhodes of Asheville; grandchildren, Trish Nelon Yelton of Forest City, Alan King of Travelers Rest, SC, Rob Nelon of Rutherfordton, Erika Lowe of Denver, CO; great grandsons, Braydon Yelton of Forest City, and Cashton Nelon of Rutherfordton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandsons, Shane Brooks and Jospeh David Nelon.

Due to weather conditions, the service for Arthur Nelon has been rescheduled for 6PM Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Pleasant View Community Church with Rev. Danny McCain officiating. The family will receive friends after the service from 7PM until 8PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
