Obituary for William Julian Shehan

William Julian  Shehan
William Julian Shehan, 82, of Spindale, died Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Hospice House. A native of Rutherford County, Julian was born January 26, 1933 to the late George Washington and Oveda Owens Shehan. He was a US Navy veteran, serving in the Korean War. He worked for Stonecutter Mills for 38 years, Blumenthal Industries, Marion, SC, Dan River Mills, Danville, VA and retired from Jim Harris Auto Sales. He was a member and deacon of Oak Springs Baptist Church and a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 27 years, Frances Arrowood Brigman Shehan; daughter Kaye Shehan Yaffe of Charlotte; son William Lee Shehan and wife Wanda of Seneca, SC; two stepchildren, Sue Spurlin and husband Tim of Forest City and Jeff Brigman and wife Sharon of Shiloh; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; former son in law Michael Yaffe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Pendergrass Shehan and three brothers, Alvin Shehan, Donald Shehan, and Clyde Shehan.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM April 1, 2015 at Oak Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Darold Crawford, Rev. Reid Cooper, and Hoyle Edwards officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary.
