Obituary for James Martin Smith

James Martin  Smith
Mr. James Martin “Jim” Smith age 77 of Darlington Road went home to be with The Lord on Friday December 12, 2014 while being cared for at Hospice of Rutherford County. A native of Rutherford County he was a son of the late James Pinkney Smith and Bessie Frady Smith, and was retired from the state highway department as a supervisor in bridge construction after 30 years of service.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 56 years Jessie Parker Smith of the home, their children Janice Bradley and husband David of Mill Spring, NC; Mike Smith and wife Debbie of the Gilkey Community; Johanna Campbell and husband Van of Spindale, NC and Jeffrey Smith and wife Ella of the Shiloh Community; eight grandchildren Tony Bradley, Nikki Bradley Baker, Michael Smith, Jessica Houser, Ethan Garland, Mason Garland, Brittany Smith and Theo Smith; five great grandchildren Colton Bradley, Preslie Bradley, Marc Baker, Kaylee Baker and Cullen Houser; one sister Mary Elizabeth Story as well as a number of other relatives.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter Joyce Garland, four brothers Aden Smith, Horace Smith, J.C. Smith and Elijah Smith and one sister Hattie Smith Parker.

Funeral services will be held 3 PM Sunday December 14, 2014 at Crowe’s Funeral Chapel with Rev. Joe Greene and Rev. Jason Toney officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 – 3 PM at Crowe’s Mortuary prior to the funeral service.
