Anthony Wayne “Tony” Godfrey, 54, of Forest City, died Sunday, December 7, 2014 at his home. He was a native of Rutherford County and the son of Harold and Catherine Suttle Godfrey. Tony was a machine mechanic for Tanner Companies. He coached youth football with the Spindale Parks and Recreation Department.

In addition to his parents, Tony is survived by his wife, Shari McNeilly Godfrey of the home; sons Aaron Godfrey and Chase Godfrey of Forest City; three grandchildren, Alexis, Clay, and Channing Godfrey; brothers Harold Godfrey Jr of Rutherfordton and Greg Godfrey of Spindale; sister Amy Welch of Waynesville.

Funeral services will be held 4PM Friday, December 12, 2014 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Dr. Scott Courtney, Rev. Danny Black and Rev. Don Crawford officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 4:00 at the church.
